This year AIDA will celebrate its 20-year anniversary so it is only fitting that France – the country where it was founded – will once again host the AIDA Team World Championships. The organizers have set-up a new website offering information about the 2012 event as well as the idyllic seaside location, Villefranche-sur-Mer. At the new website you can watch a video of Tanya Streeter or check out the results from previous team championships. New Celebrity Fitness Trend: Scuba Diving

January’s edition of the Shape Magazine discusses how celebrities are turning to scuba diving as an activity to tone and tighten their bodies.

Theresa Kaplan, Director of Communications at PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) is quoted as saying that “Scuba diving provides a full body workout that combines cardio and strength training to burn calories, tone muscles and even improve breathing”.

The article goes on to say that just 30 minutes of scuba diving can burn up to 400 calories for the average woman. As an average dive can last between 30 to 45 minutes, it will not be uncommon to lose up to 500 calories one a single dive. What better way to lose weight?

Our friends over at Sport Diver UK magazine have just launched their iPad/iPhone app on iTunes. The app is free to download, comes with a free trial issue of the magazine and allows you to manage all your issues via the iOS Newstand feature.

A range of subscriptions are available from 1 month (£2.49/$3.99) to 12 months (£19.49/$30.99) and once signed up you get access to an archive of back issues going right back to November 2009 (seems like a long time ago doesn’t it!).

All the issues of Sport Diver UK within the app can be downloaded for offline reading, meaning you can read the magazine when you’re on the go. They are accessible on all iOS devices, and the app works on the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch, so you can view via all your Apple devices.

Guillaume Néry Tells the Story of Water for Sportlife

The Sportlife campaign has created a documentary saga about three elements in nature: water, ice and snow.The story of the element water is told by world champion freediver Guillaume Néry. Among his many astounding athletic achievements, (including being the youngest person to ever break a freediving world record,) Guillaume is also world renowned for the stunning artistic video “Freefall” that was filmed entirely on breathhold by his equally talented partner Julie Gautier. In ”Freefall“, Guillaume base jumps underwater into world’s largest underwater sinkhole, Dean’s Blue Hole, in the Bahamas.
